Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez (born Sara Ramirez) is an Mexican American musician and popular actress. Sara Ramirez was raised by her American mother and faced a lot racial taunts that made her feel unwelcome. Her confidence began to grow at the age of nineteen when she appeared in an audition. She was praised for her singing. The event not only helped her gain confidence but changed her outlook on the future. In 1992 she graduated with her degree from New York's Julliard School. However her greatest breakthrough came when she appeared in the part in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the first Broadway production of Spamalot garnering not only the Tony Award for her performance but also a flurry of praise from critics. The recognition grew even more when she appeared in Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. Also, she is a well-known performer and has published an extended version of her play. She is an activist who is a tireless advocate for LGBT equality.
